The Wise Ancestors Platform
A novel decentralized architecture for advancing species conservation and benefit sharing in partnership with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.
Our platform provides an opportunity for anyone to help accelerate the pace of species conservation by making a tax deductible donation and/or participating as a Conservation Challenge collaborator.
Wise Ancestors Conservation Challenges are species-specific projects co-developed with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPs and LCs) to generate genomic resources vital for conservation work and support for upfront benefit sharing – IP and LC-centered capacity-building, conservation and/or land stewardship initiatives. Key features of our platform:
- Hosts our Conservation Challenges, where visitors can learn about the species, habitat, and local community as well as the scientific work and benefit sharing project that each Challenge represents.
- Indigenous & non-Indigenous scientists, members of local communities, and research organizations (e.g. biobanks, sequencing facilities, etc) can apply and collaborate on Conservation Challenges
- Members of the general public can play a vital role in protecting biodiversity by making online contributions to fund Conservation Challenges of their choice.
